The Best Looks From The Fall 2021 Haute Couture Shows

  After a year of primarily virtual debuts, the Fall 2021 Haute Couture shows came back in full force in Paris this week, delivering on a promise of — and desire for — grandeur, excitement and fantasy.

  

The presentations themselves gave us plenty to talk about. There was an impressive Balenciaga debut. There was a rain delay that only heightened the anticipation for a historic Pyer Moss show. There was a meeting of the minds at Jean Paul Gaultier. There were skydivers in Iris van Herpen gowns. And the clothes are clearly resonating: A handful of looks from these just-unveiled couture lines have already walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

   There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In 'Great Outfits in Fashion History,' Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks. There was a period in my life where I thought Emma Stone was quite possibly the chicest celebrity on the planet — I even dyed my hair red at least partially inspired by her (in particular, a tearout I'd saved from an October 2012 issue of Vogue.) It was in the middle of this time, right when she had bleach-blonde hair to play Gwen Stacy in "The Amazing Spiderman," that Stone wore what I'd humbly submit as one of her best red carpet looks of all time. Great Outfits: Mariah Carey's Sparkly Emmanuel Ungaro Butterfly Top

 There are those celebrity style moments that fit perfectly, and then there are the moments that really stick with you, the moments you try so hard to recreate at home. In 'The Great Outfits in Fashion History', Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.     We know Mariah Carey loves butterfly prints - she's been incorporating them into her red carpet looks for years, after releasing her eponymous album in 1997. One of the greatest examples of this This is also one of the earliest (and most referenced): her outfit from "VH1's Divas 2000: A Tribute to Diana Ross."   The special was filmed at New York City's Madison Square Garden in April 2000; Carey performed alone and with the woman of the time on stage.
